As the weather man tells me...today will be mostly cloudy and it will be cloudy for the rest of the week. I have already had my cup of Nescafe this morning...but no breakfast. Not yet anyway because I wanted to write first about the events of the past week. For is not Sunday a day for reflections of the week past?

But first let me share with you what old age does...it plays tricks with your ability to keep track of time. In between sips of coffee, I checked if my fortnightly pension has been credited to my account....as all those on a pension knows....if your pension is a day late, it plays havoc with your financial situation : the difference between debit and credit is that tipis!

Nothing!

For a few minutes I was calculating what I still have in my account (nothing!) that will keep me solvent until I go check why my pension has not been credited to my account.

Nothing to keep me solvent because there is nothing in my balance to do that.

While all this was being processed in my head I idly glanced at the TV...and saw a current affairs program that I know is aired only on Sunday....reached out for my mobile and it confirmed that today was indeed Sunday! There was immediate relief because my financial circumstances was still in order. My pension is credited to my account on Monday.s..and today is not Monday...it is Sunday! Phew....solvent again!

Old age does that to you...plays havoc with your ability to tell where you are at, makes you ask yourself what it is you that you are doing or what you want to do. But old age also makes you don't care a damm about all that because you know that at your age, those things no longer matter.

Yesterday my Form mates from MCKK days had a gathering at the home of Tengku A .....no names...intials will suffice. Reports filtering back from the social front tells me it was a good turnout (how not to be...free food, good company and meeting old comrades always is a no brainer to make occasions like this a success). I think over 100 strong...a good time was had by all and a good sum of money was collected to add to our welfare reserves to help others in need.

All that is a given!

But what is also "a given" is the messaging to and fro on our whatsapp among my batch mates for the last one week as 70 year olds like me message each other about the get together and telling each other whether they were attending, not attending, may be attending, should be attending or even if they can manage to shrug off father's time physical burdens to attend the gathering. All this are discussed in great detail and draws everyone of us in the group to follow every twists and turns of our batch mate efforts to attend the gathering.

The number of times instructions were given and forgotten about the time, day and place of the gathering never ceases to surprise  me....for I am over 70 myself. Then there were those who confirmed they were coming and somehow manage to get an act of God or Nature to stop them from coming....they fall sick, have an emergency that requires their presence or find a good enough reason (the definition of "good" is subjective) not to attend the gathering.

All this chatter on the whatsapp is exhausting and requires the patience of Job to endure and the wisdom of Solomon to decipher.....and here is the irony of it all....the host himself does not have whatsapp on his mobile and is spared what we mortals with whatsapp have to endure. Such is life.

That gathering took place yesterday....and I know the post mortern will take at least another week to subside....and this I hope to report next Sunday.

My wife is well. She has been coughing a bit...maybe because of the change in weather to Summer....but eating well. Too well. Dinner is not dinner to her until she gets dessert. She insist on it! I trimmed her nails yesterday. With Summer already here, she wakes up earlier in the morning and that starts my day with her earlier too.No complains there.  All is good.

For those of you who have been kind and gracious to me in the past week when my writing about that Idris guy has got me into all kinds of strife...I want to say thank you. For those of you who has extended invitations to coffee, tea and even Chendol should I be in K Hell again....all those invites have been noted in my diary and be taken up when I am back in K Hell for the change in government that is to come in the first quarter of 2018. Until then... Lawan mesti Lawan.
